This morning I was heavily investigated by GM with the presence of HR Director and financial controller. It was embarrassing indeed. 

I was asked to go HR department by AFC around 10.45 am and he don’t give me any idea why I have to go there. First thing came to my mind is that I have complete my 3 month probation period and I have to singed my appraisal today as the month starts 

When I entered HR, I saw FC coming out of HR Director Office and I thought he came out to meet me. But he came out to call GM for the meeting.  

The first question GM asks me:  Did you have a conversation with martin on face book? The answer is simple. Yes I had. 

To be honest, I thought it will never take more than ten minuets and I will be terminated from the Resort. Just because the argument I had with martin on Facebook conversation.  

I always keep eye on any article related to the projects which brings tourists to Addu atoll. But I simply don’t have a faith on government for this project as they have lied past 20 years about the introduction of tourism in Addu. With no other choice, finally when it came on construction in 2006, they said this resort will be employed by only locals and it build of tackling the unemployment in Addu atoll. 

This new development takes my interest and I personally believe it will be challenging to find 700 Hundred skilled workers from Addu atoll. Not because we don’t have that much experience people, but people don’t want leave their job and come back for just stay closer with thier family. It required to acceptable wages to survive. 

Recently, a friend of mine introduces me the facebook.com and I simply register user on it. And then, I found a group called “[Resort name] Island Resort” and right away I join the group reply to the discussion board about when I think resort gonna be open. It all begins from there without knowing it will backfire on me.  

My argument with martin is simple. I don’t believe we need semi-skilled workers anymore in the tourism industry. But still we need skilled foreign workers to take care of our kitchens, accounting, engineering and of course general manager post. 

In relations to the comments I made on Facebook with martin, I answered all the questions asked by GM why I challenge to martin. The best thing about this meeting is that GM allows me to discuss with him about social matters like drugs and range of other things in our society. Finally, I got warble warning for the arguments I had with martin about the employment. Also, soon I back to office; I have removed all my comments on facbook for the good of the resort and my employment. 

I thought this clarification was required that I have never lied to martin and I have no personal problems with any of my working colleagues whether foreigners or locals. I spoke about things that I concerned and what I believe base on my experience.
