Talking point talking too much

I think this talking point guy has gone too far that gayyoom cannot tolerate. It seem this guy is using subliminal methods to achieve something… maybe he wants become a president one day. Better than someone from a “different country” I guess. I have nothing more to add on the talking guy pointed below.

“Maumoon Abdul Gayoom is from a different country. He comes to the Maldives and takes the country away from its people. He takes power and holds on to it against the will of the entire nation. All of a sudden, and before people could even realize it, it has been thirty years since Maumoon took over this country from its people. All these years, the Maldives people have been subjected to hardship and extreme adversity. The Maldives people have been deprived of every opportunity for prosperity. Through out those thirty years, the entire Maldivian nation have been despised him as a person and as president. Through out those thirty years the Maldives people have been desperately trying to find a way to depose him, get rid of him, one way or the other. But through out the thirty years, Maumoon has kept himself in power using force to the wrath of the nation. The inclusion of a clause in the draft constitution to stop him from seeking power is the greatest gift people-loving members of the Special Majlis could give to Maldives people.”

  3. Every dictator has his time and place just as every other person in this world. They have a duty to the people as the people have a higher duty to make their leader accountable for his or her actions. The years of dictators are vanishing through the rise of popular resistance, which inevitably results in the overthrow of that corrupt government. However a bigger risk will come if the next leaders of our country is not kept in check once in power. From the president to our local representatives, all needs to understand that they are given a job to serve the people. The people should not go to them, instead, they should go to the people. The country’s environment must always be a top priority and must be protected when it comes to foreign investment or local projects that has a chance of destroying the country’s natural beauty as seen in other capitalist countries around the world. We as Maldivians can take our country through modernization, but without destroying the environment as the big developed countries have. With capitalism will always come greed, hence everything needs a middle ground and a system of check and balance. People can talk a lot, but look at their history to see if they will act on it. When it comes to the redemption, without being able to admit the wrongs of ones past, its hard to change for the better good. At the same time, people needs to be forgiving if one is able to admit their wrongs. Politicians needs to be clean in the end of each day. People needs to educate their children in ways of critical questioning with respect and patience to the one being questioned. Maldives is still young, but it has a bright future as it has many young leaders ready to help their people.
